Suffolk microbrewery unveils champagne-style kombucha

An English brewery has unveiled a champagne-style beverage for those looking for a non-alcoholic alternative to a glass of bubbly.

L.A Brewery has developed a Sparkling English Rose kombucha at its microbrewery in Suffolk, which it calls a "homage" to the rich heritage of English sparkling wines.

The drink is brewed with a blend of assam and white monkey teas and infused with organic white rose petals and elderflower. L.A Brewery says the balance of zesty acidity and floral notes in the drink and its dry finish are designed to be reminiscent of wildflower champagne.

It is the latest in L.A Brewery's line of kombuchas: the range already includes ginger, lemongrass and strawberry and black pepper-flavoured drinks and a beer-kombucha crossover, released in 2019, made with Citra and Cascade hops.

Louise Avery, founder of L.A Brewery, said: "I am incredibly proud of our newest creation. My goal was to develop a complex yet refreshing liquid that can be enjoyed when marking the end of the working day and celebrating the beginning of downtime. The Sparkling English Rose is best enjoyed chilled as an aperitif or celebratory drink, delivering all the experience without the alcohol."

L.A Brewery English Sparkling Rose will be available to buy from the brewery's online shop and Amazon from 1 September, with a recommended price of £10 for a 750ml bottle.
