Eden Mill donating to The Drinks Trust from Love Gin sales

Scottish craft distiller Eden Mill has launched a campaign in support of hospitality and drinks industry charity The Drinks Trust.

The Love Gin, Love Hospitality campaign will see a percentage of oonline sales of Eden Mill's pink gin donated to charities that provide care and support to people from the drinks industry workforce.

From every 70cl bottle of Love Gin sold at £30, £2 will be donated to The Drinks Trust (or The Ben, Scottish Licensed Trade Benevolent Society, in Scotland) to support wellbeing services the organisations have launched in response to the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, including counselling services and mindful drinking courses.

Eden Mill co-founder and CEO, Tony Kelly, said: "Although we understand the need for further restrictions being brought in across Scotland and throughout the UK to control the rapid spread of coronavirus, it's coming down very hard on the hospitality industry and we know from conversations with our industry partners that hospitality is desperate for support. First reduced capacity and 10pm curfews, now a ban on alcohol sales and local hospitality closures - many bars, pubs and restaurants will struggle to survive.

"In our opinion, while staying at home is the safest option, bars, pubs and restaurants had staff trained to manage the safe consumption of alcohol before Covid began, and hospitality has made huge efforts to regulate their spaces to be the safest environments. Banning alcohol consumption and closing hospitality can only serve to encourage the unregulated mixing of households as people are tempted to meet at home.

"Our Love Gin motto is 'Share the love' and it is absolutely essential for us to show our support to an industry on its knees."

Ross Carter, CEO of The Drinks Trust, said: "We are incredibly thankful to Eden Mill for its support of The Drinks Trust. The impact of these fundraising initiatives on the lives of our colleagues and friends in the drinks industry is significant and it will enable us to provide more help to those in need of our help in these difficult times."

Chris Gardner, CEO of The Ben, said: "This is fantastic news for the charity. We are under great pressure trying to help those in the trade in need, especially in these challenging times. Thanks to all at Eden Mill for thinking of us; it will make a huge difference."

Bottles of Love Gin are available to buy at www.edenmill.com or at Eden Mill's festive pop-up shops in Livingston, St Andrews, Glasgow's Princes Square and Silverburn.
