A new non-alcoholic spirit, ZEO, is hitting shelves in the UK in November aiming to encourage 'alcohol freedom for sober-curious drinkers'.
Developed to 'mimic the flavour and mouthfeel of alcohol', the brand has been created by an independent start-up in collaboration with award-winning bartender Simone Caporale.
It launches with two expressions: Botanical Dry, a clear spirit made with nine botanicals and designed to mix with tonic; and Spiced Oak, an amber-coloured spirit made with eight botanicals. Both will be available in 70cl, 50cl and 5cl bottles.
According to research by Mintel earlier this year, some 8.6 million UK drinkers are looking to cut down their alcohol consumption and 41 per cent are concerned about the healthiness of alcoholic drinks. In response to this trend, new drinks brands have been targeting the no and low corner of the market, while established spirits producers including Warner's, Hayman's and Salcombe Distilling have also been experimenting with low and no-alcohol products.
Simone and the team at ZEO worked alongside experts in drinks production and mixology for three years to develop their non-alcohol botanical spirits. They source natural botanicals from farmers around the world and use a combination of techniques to create the drinks including cold brew infusion and vapour infusion.
ZEO products are available to purchase from www.feelzeo.com.
