Kombucha brand Fix8 launches RTD range

Kombucha brand Fix8 is preparing for its new range of ready-to-drink (RTD) beverages to hit the market.

London-based Fix8 says it is launching the canned drinks to make kombucha - a fermented tea drink - more accessible and appealing to consumers and to "evolve" the occasions on which it is consumed.

The RTD range, packaged in fully recyclable 330ml aluminium cans, will be available in three flagship flavours - Triple Ginger, Strawberry Tulsi and Citrus Saffron - and join Fix8's existing range of glass bottles.

The canned kombuchas are created using the same brewing process as the original products, but boast a lower carbon footprint and a longer shelf life of 12 months. They can also be stored at room temperature, enabling distributors and suppliers to transport them more easily.

Freya Twigden, founder of Fix8, said: "Our mission is to break boundaries by taking kombucha beyond the health food niche and opening up the consumption occasion. The only way to do that is to enter the wider soft drinks market in a suitable ambient format with a genuinely interesting, flavour-forward adult soft drink that plays with the flavours and complexity that only fermentation can create."

Chris J.J. Heaney, the brand's head brewer, explains: "The Fix8 in a can is brewed in exactly the same way with the same ingredients as our glass bottle range... The only difference is when it comes to packaging. When we fill our cans they are heated just enough to stop the yeast and bacteria fermenting. Of course, they still contain the naturally occuring B vitamins, acids and polyphenols, and are low in sugar."

Fix8 is available to purchase from fix8.com and is soon coming to Farmdrop, and is available wholesale through Wholegood and Eebria Trade.
