Premium tequila brand Hornitos has launched 'The Shot Fund', a multi-year investment platform to support creative entrepreneurs in starting their business ventures.
As part of a social responsibility commitment, Hornitos Tequila has launched the fund to foster the professional development and success of diverse and influential creatives in 2020 and beyond.
The inaugural cohort of beneficiaries from the investment fund includes Dr Woo, an acclaimed celebrity tattoo artists developing his own line of skincare products, Mexican visual artist Lourdes Villagómez, who has been helped to expand her work into the US, and photographer Paul Octavious, who has received support for his Black Archivist campaign to showcase the power of black narratives.
Rashidi Hodari, managing director of tequila at Beam Suntory, said: "Ever since our founder Don Francisco introduced Hornitos Tequila as a reposado in 1950 and established himself as an innovator in the tequila industry, we've been emboldened by the opportunity to take chances for the betterment of tequila.
"That boundary-pushing spirit stands as the driving force behind 'The Shot Fund', an initiative that provides those who share our revolutionary mentality with the funds needed to continue pushing the envelope and breaking barriers in their field."
Dr Woo (pictured) said: "We were set to launch our first product at the beginning of 2020 and, like many start-ups around the world, we faced uncertainty about the future of our company when the pandemic hit. With support from Hornitos Tequila, we were able to navigate these unknown territories and stay focused while trying to do some good for our community. Their partnership played a fundamental role in turning this idea into a reality."
Inspired by its own chance-taking history, Hornitos Tequila's 'The Shot Fund' will also serve to highlight the brand's 'A Shot Worth Taking' campaign, which launched in 2017 and inspires fans to push boundaries and take chances in the pursuit of great things.
