US brand Amass launches non-alcoholic botanic spirit

American spirits brand Amass is capturing the spirit of the Pacific Northwest in a new non-alcoholic release.

Riverine contains a regional blend of 14 natural botanicals including sorrel and sumac. Each botanical is individually distilled with a 'hydrosteam' technique, which uses water vapour to capture essential oils.

It is inspired by the forests of British Columbia, Canada, where Amass chief product officer and master distillery Morgan McLachlan grew up.

She says: "With our line of clean botanic spirits, we wanted to offer a premium culinary experience for all Amass consumers, regardless of their drinking habits.

"Riverine is inspired by the dense coniferous forests of the Canadian Pacific Northwest, where I grew up. The result isn't a gin proxy, but rather a nuanced, sophisticated spirit in its own right."

Riverine is intended as a premium 'no and low' counterpart to the Amass spirits range, which includes its Dry Gin and Botanic Vodka. The brand says it can be enjoyed in a range of cocktails, or over ice with a splash of tonic.

Distilled and bottled in British Columbia, the drink is low-calorie and free from added sugar, sweeteners, artificial colours or flavours, and is vegan, non-GMO and gluten-free. It will be available on amass.com for US consumers from 25 January.

Alongside its spirits, Amass - based in Los Angeles, California - also makes a range of botanic personal care products including hand soaps and bath salts.
