Avallen Spirits joins 1% for the Planet

Calvados producer Avallen Spirits has solidified its commitment to 'planet positivity' by becoming a member of charitable platform 1% for the Planet.

Created by Patagonia founder Yvon Chouinard, the plaform sees businesses commit to donating 1 per cent of their turnover to environmental non-profits. Companies already signed up include Rebel Kitchen, Cooper King Distillery, Warner's and Langley's.

In joining 1% for the Planet, Avallen has made a long-term commitment to protecting the world's wild bee populations - a cause that is close to its heart. Bees and other pollinators, which play a crucial part in global food chains, have seen a dramatic decline in numbers in the past century, due largely to the increased use of modern pesticides.

Avallen already supports organisations dedicated to restoring and protecting bee populations, and encourages others around the world to do the same through its #BeePositive message. The producer has also committed to planting 10,000 wild flowers globally over the next three years in a bid to help pollinator populations.

Tim Etherington-Judge, co-founder of Avallen Spirits, said: "We're extremely excited to join thousands of pioneering companies and become a member of 1% for the Planet, continuing our commitment to support amazing organisations working hard to protect our most important of pollinators: the bees."
