Master of Malt's Macallan auction raises £36K for Hospitality Action

Master of Malt has raised more than £36,000 for Hospitality Action through an auction of rare bottlings from The Macallan.

The online retailer auctioned bottles from The Macallan's Red Collection in aid of UK charity Hospitality Action, which has been supporting staff in the industry whose jobs and lives have been affected by the coronavirus pandemic. In total the auction raised £36,510.

Launched in October 2020, The Macallan Red Collection is a series of ongoing aged expressions and high-aged guest releases which is designed to celebrate the brand's long-standing connection with the colour red, as well as showcasing some of its finest - and oldest - Scotch whiskies.

In a release about the auction, Master of Malt said: "At Master of Malt, we have a history of running lotteries and charity auctions for highly sought-after allocations. It only made sense when The Macallan Red Collection came along that we auction it, with the proceeds going to Hospitality Action."

Justin Petszaft, Master of Malt CEO, said: "It's been a hard year for everyone, but particularly those in the hospitality sector, so we've been looking for ways to help them weather the storm until they can fully reopen.

"The Macallan is always highly collectible, so we knew demand for this collection would be high, and it seemed like the perfect opportunity to help raise some much-needed funds for our friends in the on-trade."
