Rockstar Spirits secures $220,000 Australian distribution deal

Independent British rum brand Rockstart Spirits has secured a distribution deal down under with Australia’s largest retail company.

The Manchester-based producer has signed a deal with Woolworths Group which will see four of its brands sold in Dan Murphy’s, an Australian liquor store chain owned by Woolworths Group with 226 outlets across the country.

Rockstar’s launch range with Dan Murphy’s includes the Captn Webb Two Swallows series, with Citrus & Salted Caramel, Cherry & Salted Caramel and Orange & Ginger, and the navy-strength Banana Bomb.

Following sales growth of 550 per cent in 2020, the new deal will put Rockstar Spirits’ drinks in stores in every major town and city in Australia.

The value of the first orders in the deal is estimated at AUS$220,000, with a goal of delivering AUS$500,000 worth of drinks in the first year.

Rockstar Spirits was launched in November 2018 by Tom Hurst, who has 20 years’ corporate experience in the drinks industry.

Of the new deal, he said: “I set a key goal every year for Rockstar, and in 2020 the goal was to deliver a national listing with a top supermarket in the UK, which I delivered with a Sainsburys listing in Q1.

“The goal for 2021 was to deliver our first major export deal and I believe that working with Woolworths has delivered this objective in Q1 again and puts us in a good place to continue our strong growth curve despite all the challenges we have seen from events of the Covid-19 pandemic.”

Rockstar Spirits currently comprises three series: Captn Webb's Two Swallows, The Grenade Series and Banana Bomb. It sources the rums for its spirit drinks from distilleries in Guyana and Panama.
