Bacardi has appointed Matthew Cordiner as its new global malts ambassador.
Speyside local Matthew has more than a decade of experience in the whisky industry. He started his career with a summer job as a tour guide at Glenlivet, then joined the Chivas Brothers Graduate Programme.
He spent three years travelling the world as a whisky ambassador before joining Bacardi in 2018 as Dewar's Aberfeldy brand home ambassador. In his new role, he will be responsible for Bacardi's full stable of single malt Scotch whisky brands including Aultmore, Craigellachie, The Deverton and Royal Brackla, as well as Aberfeldy.
As global malts ambassador he will be responsible for promoting the portfolio worldwide, with a focus on raising brand awareness in key markets, and will lead the malts in-market brand ambassadors team.
Of his appointment, Matthew said: "Since taking on the role, I think I am officially the least ‘global’ global brand ambassador in the history of the title! That said, I'm delighted to say I've probably spoken to more whisky enthusiasts around the world than most global brand ambassadors do in their first year thanks to the virtual world we now live in."
Ian Taylor, global brand director for Bacardi's malts, said: "Matthew brings with him a wealth of whisky knowledge and expertise. He's already been a key player in the success of bringing the brands to life in his previous role and now he will play a fundamental part at a global level in enhancing each of the five malt’s reputation amongst whisky drinkers around the world."
