American whiskey maker Kentucky Peerless Distilling Company is officially launching its products in the UK this month.
The company - whose legacy began with the first Peerless family Bourbon going into barrels in 1889 - will be launching in the UK on 26 April.
Now run by fourth and fifth-generation members of the Peerless family, the distillery in Louisville, Kentucky conducts all its processes under one roof - from milling grain to barrelling its Bourbon and rye whiskey. Its bottles have been designed in the image of its 'doubler', the pot still on which its final distillation takes place.
Two of the distillery's expressions will be launching in the UK: Peerless Kentucky Small Batch Rye and Peerless Kentucky Single Barrel Rye. Both will be available from Native Spirits, Master of Malt and The Whisky Exchange (RRP £80).
The whiskeys are coming to the UK through N10 Bourbons. The company's owner, Nathan Dawes, said: "N10 Bourbons are delighted to offer this exceptional example of Kentucky rye to the UK market. The success of Kentucky Peerless is the product of using innovative practices to deliver unparalleled quality and this stratospheric level of quality has seriously impressed us."
Cordell Lawrence, director of global marketing and strategy for Peerless Distilling Company, said: "We are forever grateful for our friends in the UK who have genuinely embraced the resurrection of our pre-Prohibition brand from the beginning. Their passion and unending interest in Peerless has made this announcement possible. It is our sincere honour and privilege to now share a dram of Peerless with our friends across the Atlantic."
Caleb Kilburn, Peerless master distiller, said: "At Peerless we utilise sweet mash and temperature-regulated fermentation to maximise the purity of mash. This cleaner charge allows our stills to gather substantial amounts of flavour in areas of the wheel that are typically squandered due to a sub-par mash. The robust distillate coupled with a low barrel entry proof and a barrel-strength product ensures a finished product that is packed with flavour."
