RedLeg owner launches botanical vodka range

Drinks group Distil has announced the launch of a range of lower-ABV botanical vodkas: Trøve.

The spirit drinks are distilled with 100 per cent natural ingredients, including fruits and other botanicals, and are bottled at 30% ABV. They represent a bid by Distil to capture a corner of the growing market for lower-alcohol spirit-based drinks.

Trøve has been created in partnership with master distiller Sion Edwards, co-founder and former director of gin producer Warner Edwards (now Warner's).

It launches with three flavours: Valencian Orange with Lime, Green Apple with Ginger, and Raspberry with Lemongrass and Mint. The botanical vodkas have been designed to mix with tonic or soda in longer drinks and are all vegan, sugar free and gluten free.

Kate Alexander, marketing and operations director at Distil, said: "We are delighted to be launching Trøve at a time when we believe consumers are looking for brands that allow them to make better choices without compromising on flavour. Post-Covid in particular, consumers want to live healthier, more balanced lifestyles, but that doesn’t mean that they want to be teetotal.

The botanicals we’ve chosen not only naturally intensify the flavours of the fruit, but also help to develop complexity and a full mouthfeel, so you can easily create light, refreshing drinks that are bursting with fruit flavour but low in calories. We are confident that the brand will tick a lot of boxes for shifting consumer attitudes."

Distil owns other premium drinks brands including Blackwoods Gin, RedLeg Spiced Rum and Blavod Black Vodka.
