Distil appoints new non-executive director

Drinks group Distil has appointed industry veteran Michael Keiller as an independent non-executive director.

Keiller will take up his place on the board of the company - which owns brands including RedLeg Spiced Rum, Blackwoods Gin and Vodka, and Trøve Botanical Spirit - from 1 July 2021.

Having begun his career as a chartered accountant, Keiller went on to hold senior finance and corporate roles at Guinness, United Distillers Europe and Diageo in its early development stage.

He joined Suntory-owned Morrison Bowmore Distillers as CEO in 2000 and helped to transform the business from a bulk whisky supplier into a profitable consumer brand.

Following his retirement from Morrison Bowmore in 2014, he served as a non-executive director with The Last Drop Distillers.
