Cockburns' Port is aiming to push the boundaries of the port category with its new range, Tails of the Unexpected.
Inspired by the brand's port-making heritage, the experimental new collection is designed to appeal to a new generation of port drinkers.
It includes three expressions: Ruby Soho, inspired by the iconic mix of Port and Lemon and bottled young to preserve its fruit character and acidity; Tawny Eyes, a tawny port aged in oak barrels; and White Heights, a medium-dry white port drawn from high-altitude vineyards.
The bottles for the range are made from 100 per cent recycled glass and the labels feature illustrations showing each blend's influences and origins.
Rob Symington, fifth-generation port maker at Symington Family Spirits, said: "We are thrilled to share this new project with the world. We believe the wines, the serves, and the packaging represent an exciting innovation for the port trade. In addition, this is our first ever direct-to-consumer launch and through the summer and autumn we want to engage a community of adventurous port drinkers in Portugal and the UK with this new concept."
To mark the launch of Tails of the Unexpected, Cockburn's is planning activities in Portugal and the UK: it will be hosting a street art competition and organising live music events in Porto, and will have seaside pop-ups serving cocktails in Brighton and Falmouth through the summer.
