Arbikie Distillery partners with ecoSPIRITS

Arbikie Distillery has announced a new partnership between its climate-positive Nàdar spirits range and ecoSPIRITS.

Founded in 2018, ecoSPIRITS is a closed-loop distribution technology for premium spirits which is currently used by almost 700 restaurants, bars and hotels worldwide.

It significantly reduces packaging waste in the supply chain and has also been shown to eliminate an average of 70 to 90 per cent of the carbon dioxide associated with the packaging and distribution of premium spirits compared with single-use glass equivalents.

Starting this month, the Nàdar range will be available in the UK on-trade in ecoSPIRITS' patent-pending 4.5-litre ecoTOTE format - a mixed-material reusable container that can be used for spirits delivery in on-trade settings.

Launched in 2020, Nàdar Gin and Vodka are made from a pea-based spirit which avoids more carbon dioxide emissions than it creates, resulting in a saving of more than 1.53kg of CO2 per bottle. Through its partnership with ecoSPIRITS, the Scottish distiller estimates that it can save at least a further 550g of CO2 per bottle.

Iain Stirling, Arbikie Distillery co-founder, said: "This technology will lead to a major reduction in waste produced by bars, restaurants and hotels. Having less glass and cardboard in local landfills means consumers can do their part by drinking 'green' and feeling good about their lifestyle choices."

Brand manager Gareth Jones added: "At Arbikie we are aiming to become one of the world's most sustainable distilleries through our single-estate approach, but we can't do it alone and our partnership with ecoSPIRITS is another step in that journey."

Based on the Stirling family's farm in Aberdeenshire, Arbikie Distillery makes a range of field-to-bottle spirits including whisky and gin which are distributed around the world.

Starting this month, both Nàdar Gin and Nàdar Vodka will be available to the on trade in the United Kingdom in ecoSPIRITS’ patent-pending 4.5L ecoTOTE^TM format.
