Rum brand Duppy Share and musician Kano (aka Kane Robinson) have collaborated on a new rum release.
Duppy White is UK-based Duppy Share's first 100 per cent Jamaican rum, and creator and co-founder Kane was involved in each element of the production process of the new expression.
Duppy Share has had a connection since Kane since October 2016, when the brand's founder George Frost hand-delivered a selection of rums to Kano and his team in Manchester after spotting a shout-out from the music artist on Instagram.
It was during the UK's Covid-19 lockdowns that Kane and Frost decided to partner up and tackle what they saw as a dearth of quality yet approachable offerings in the white rum space.
With Duppy Share's other rums blended from Jamaica and Barbados, they decided that the new white rum should be 100 per cent Jamaican, with the entire design process inspired by Kane's heritage and experiences.
As well as being visible in the liquid - which the Duppy Share team says has tropical notes of mango, green thyme, banana and pimento spice - the Jamaican influence on the rum is also evident in the bottle design. The label is inspired by a 7-inch vinyl and depicts scenes from Kane's life both in Jamaica and London.
Kano said: "For me, whatever I do has to be the real deal. This drink comes from me. This is my life, my family's story inside this bottle, and wrapped around this bottle. This is something I believe in and genuinely love as a product."
George Frost said: "Making a rum is all about creating a great-tasting liquid and standing out from the crowd. Working with Kano felt like a natural and authentic fit for The Duppy Share and his genuine enthusiasm for the brand made it really exciting to create something from scratch together."
Duppy White will be available to buy online at theduppyshare.com or in Tesco stores across the UK.
