New Quarter lower-alcoholic spirit launches in UK

New English drinks brand Quarter is hoping to "claim the space" between full-strength spirits and no and low alternatives with a range of lower-alcohol drinks.

Its first release Quarter G/N, a UK-made spirit infused with traditional gin botanicals and bottled at 12% ABV, hit the UK market in August. It is distilled in the London Dry style in a copper pot still with ingredients including juniper, orange and grapefruit.

The co-founders of Quarter, Fabian Clark and Rohan Radhakrishnan, consider themselves innovators in the emerging 'light spirits' market - which pitches between full-strength spirits (at 37.5% ABV and above) and no- or low-alcohol brands which must keep their products under 0.5% or 1.2% ABV respectively.

Clark and Radhakrishnan used their experience in the hospitality, drinks and creative industries to craft their brand and received input from ex-Diageo head distiller Anthony Wilson on the recipe for their first product. They have more 'light spirits' currently in development under the Quarter brand.

Quarter G/N is available via (RRP £27).
