Luxury wine and spirits house Pandolfini is hosting an auction of whisky and collectible spirits next month.
The From Red to Gold sale is named in homage to the many shades of liquid which will be going under the hammer, ranging from Cognac to Caribbean rum.
The morning opens with a range of spirits from France, including Cognac, calvados, armagnac, and a highly sought-after Marc de Bourgogne from the Domaine de la Romanée-Conti (estimated sale price €2,200-4.400).
This will be followed by rums from major Caribbean distilleries including Caroni, Havana Club, Bacardi, and a selection of Samaroli including a 1980 Demerara, the like of which has never gone under the hammer before (estimated price €2,500-4,000).
After rum, the sale moves to whiskies: first Scotland, with lots from globally recognised names including Ardbeg, Bowmore, Caol Ila, Glenlivet, Laphroaig, Port Ellen, Springbank and Talisker; then to Ireland, Japan and America. The sale then returns to Scotland for more than 30 lots from The Macallan, including a 60-year-old bottling from the distillery's famous Red Collection (estimated price €50,000-80,000).
The catalogue culminates in its "gold" section, comprising 30 lots of Silvano Samaroli's selections. It includes a bottling that helped him to attain his reverred status in the spirits world: a 1966 Bowmore from the Bouquet series (estimated price €40,000-80,000).
The From Red to Gold auction is taking place at the Palazzo Ramirez Mantalvo in Florence on Thursday, 2 December. Bids can also be registered on the PandolfiniLive online platform. For more information, visit www.pandolfini.it.
