The House of Botanicals has joined an elite crew of global spirits brands to have gained B Corporation (B Corp) certification.
The certification, awarded by B Lab, denotes companies operating at the highest environmental and social standards, and the accreditation process covers five key areas of business operation: governance, workers, community, environment and customers.
Founded in 2009, The House of Botanicals claims to be the UK's oldest bartender-owned spirits brand. The Aberdeen-based company sells a range of drink products including gins, cocktail bitters, aperitifs and digestifs. It operates with a zero-waste policy and ensures ethical sourcing of all its raw materials.
The House of Botanicals is the eighth spirit brand globally and the fourth spirit brand in the UK (alongside Bruichladdich, Sipsmith and rum brand Hattier's) to achieve B Corp certification. More than 4,200 businesses worldwide now hold the certification, including The Guardian, The Body Shop and Patagonia.
Chris Turner, executive director of B Lab UK, said: "We are delighted to welcome The House of Botanicals to the B Corp community. This is a movement of companies who are committed to changing how business operates and believe business really can be a force for good."
