The Glenlivet relaunches whisky cocktail capsules

The Glenlivet is hoping to shake up the world of cocktail service with a new collection of fully edible whisky cocktail capsules.

The spherical capsules are covered with an edible seaweed casing, and can be served without a stirrer, ice, or even a glass.

It is the first time the capsules have been made available since their initial launch in 2019, which caused a stir among whisky traditionalists.

The new collection has been created in partnership with mixology company Molecular Experience; the capsules are all-natural, vegan and gluten-free.

Five flavours are available in the collection, designed to showcase the versatility of The Glenlivet's whiskies in the modern cocktail canon:

  • Ool La La: The Glenlivet's Founder's Reserve, peach and oolong tea, vanilla syrup
  • Scottish Coffee: The Glenlivet Founder's Reserve, coffee, cane sugar
  • Old Fashioned: The Glenlivet 12, Angostura Bitters, simple syrup, water
  • Whisky Sour: The Glenlivet 12, lemon juice, simple syrup
  • Mai Tai: The Glenlivet Caribbean Reserve, lime juice, orgeat syrup, triple sec

To mark the capsules' release, The Glenlivet is launching an immersive sensory experience in which to taste them. Dramming in the Dark will be hosted at The Den Soho in London from 27 January to 19 February, with sessions available to book on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
