Rare Cognac in tribute to Richard Hennessy

Hennessy has unveiled a limited-edition Cognac in tribute to the brand's 18th-century founder, Richard Hennessy.

This new expression - the rarest Cognac in its collection - is blended from some of the scarcest eaux-de-vie in Hennessy's reserves, sourced from the Founder's Cellar on the family estate.

Just 12 'tierçons' have been blended - historic French oak barrels crafted by master coppers at Hennessy's own barrel-making workshop.

In homage to Richard Hennessy's significant legacy, the Cognac is presented in a graceful Baccarat crystal decanter with accessories (glasses, a fusil and a tray), designed by world-renowned architect Daniel Libeskind.

Libeskind said: "There is a complexity, process and structure to Cognac, just as there is in architecture. I am inspired by the interplay of history and the future - a particular magic happens when the two come together."

For the Richard Hennessy expression, Hennessy says that Libeskind "immersed himself in the richness of history and dedication to craft to design a bottle as visionary as the man who inspired it".

Richard Hennessy will be available from UK retailers Harrods and Hedonism from mid-March (RRP £5,000).
