Distillers seek One of One managing director

The Worshipful Company of Distillers is looking for a full-time leader for its One of One bi-annual charity whisky auction.

The City of London Livery company is seeking a managing director for the One of One auction series, which raised around £2.5 million at its inaugural event in December 2021.

The One of One managing director's primary aim will be to deliver the Distillers' ambitions of raising significant funds to support youth charities in Scotland through the auctions.

The role will involve active engagement with senior figures in the Scotch whisky industry, coordinating with the partner auction house and with volunteer members of the Worshipful Company of Distillers who will assist with delivery of the auctions, and managing the PR, marketing and finances of the events.

The Distillers said the role will suit candidates with detailed Scotch whisky industry knowledge and established connections, and those with experience in international marketing, corporate social responsibility (CSR), project management or brand ambassadorial roles.

Following successful auction-based fundraising initiatives in 2013 and 2018, the Worshipful Company of Distillers developed a long-term strategic fundraising initiative in The Distillers’ One of One – a bi-annual series of auctions of ultra-rare, unique expressions of Scotch whisky and experiences.

In December 2021, more than 40 unique lots were gathered from across the industry and, working with Sotheby’s, were auctioned at the first Distillers One of One at Barnbougle Castle raising in excess of £2.5 million. The Youth Action Fund was created to disburse the funds raised from each auction.
