The Worshipful Company of Distillers will be part of London's City Food Lecture in 2023, the event's organisers have announced.
Since launched in 2001, the City Food Lecture has brought together businesspeople, academics and City of London liverymen to champion the current and future leaders of the food industry. It has drawn keynote speakers from major companies including Arla Foods, Tesco and Unilever.
With the addition of the Worshipful Company of Distillers, it will now be known as the City Food and Drink Lecture. The Distillers will join the seven existing livery companies involved in agriculture and food, including the Worshipful Companies of Bakers, Butchers, Farmers and Fruiterers.
Trevor Stirling, chairman of the Worshipful Company of Distillers' industry and membership committee, said: "The Worshipful Company of Distillers is delighted to be joining the City Food and Drink Lecture. Our aspiration is to be at the heart of the spirits industry.
"We look forward to working with our seven fellow food liveries to raise the profile of the UK food and drink industry through this prestigious high-profile event."
John Giles, the current chairman of the City Food and Drink Lecture, said: "We are really excited that the Worshipful Company of Distillers is joining what will be the City Food and Drink Lecture from 2023 ... Its members will bring new ideas and thoughts to this well-established event from their sector, which adds a brilliant new dimension."
Details of the 2023 City Food and Drink Lecture, including the confirmed date and keynote speaker, are set to be announced soon.
