Scottish Borders Distillery releases paperless gin bottle

Scotland's Borders Distillery has unveiled a new paper-free bottle design for its first limited-edition gin.

The Kerr's Navy Strength Gin, a higher-strength version of its flagship William Kerr's Borders Gin, is the first spirit from the distillery to use a paperless bottle, which was created using state-of-the-art printing technology.

Created by Scottish company Image Glass, the blue glass bottle is the first to be produced by a distillery in the Scottish Borders that is completely paperless.

The gin itself is made using barley from local farmers in the Scottish Borders and has been distilled to 57.1% ABV. It has a malted barley spirit base and was distilled on a specially commissioned Caterhead still.

Kerr's Navy Strength Gin is the first in a series of experimental releases by the Borders Distillery and will be released in a limited run of 2,022 bottles.
