John Paul Jones has announced the release of its second expression, Ranger Rum, which is now available for pre-ordering.
The spirit is soaked in spiral wrack seaweed, hand-picked from the beaches of Southwest Scotland. It’s then botanically flavoured using slices of apple and lime as part of the steeping process.
Among extensive sampling, the team at John Paul Jones have discovered that the rum is ideal for those who prefer lighter spirits, while whiskey and brandy lovers are more likely to favour the brand’s first expression, Lowland Rum.
While the John Paul Jones name comes from an 18th century naval commander, the expression name Ranger is taken from the famous vessel, USS Ranger, which Jones commanded.
Co-founder and master of flavours Finnian Gill commented on the release: “We are really thrilled with Ranger. With its salty undertones, it’s the perfect complement to our Lowland Rum and its lighter nature will widen JPJ’s appeal to those who traditionally drink white spirits such as gin and vodka. Ranger furthers our deep-seated desire to revolutionise rum in the true buccaneering spirit of John Paul Jones. In his very words, those who do not risk cannot win. With the introduction of. Ranger, we can now dare wider audiences to experience our rims and to enjoy the taste of adventure.
Ranger is bottled at an ABV of 37.5% and is available for pre-ordering through their online shop at an RRP of £35.00.
