Brugal has unveiled its newest and most exclusive expression to date, Andrés Brugal, with only 30 bottles to be sold in the UK.
This is the Dominican brand’s first ever blend of two double aged reserves, with first fill single casks. The price for the new expression is £2,200, reflecting its limited-edition nature.
The rum is bottled in a hand-blown crystal decanter and presented in a bespoke display cabinet said to be inspired by the traveling cases earlier maestros used in their voyagers.
The rum has been created by Jassil Villanueva Quintana, Brugal’s youngest ever and first female master of rum. A fifth generation expert, the expression is said to be a homage to the brand’s founder’s pioneering spirit of exploration.
The producer has described the rum as having aroma notes of roasted coffee beans and freshly harvest Cacao, and notes of oak, vanilla bean and sweet caramel on the palate. It’s said to be concluded with a silky, long-lasting dry finish.
Quintana commented: “Quintessentially Dominican flavors combine to create an extraordinary liquid of astounding character that pushes the boundaries of discovery. With a touch of sweetness on the nose, and a well-rounded, long-lasting mouthfeel, this full-bodied rum is a true celebration of the distinctive flavors of Puerto Plata. This limited-edition bottling is a journey that started over a century ago. Andrés Brugal combines special single cask family reserves and our signature double aging technique to tell a dual story of my family’s legacy of rum making, as well as my own as Maestra Ronera,”
In total there are 460 bottles set to be made available worldwide. More information can be found here at Brugal's website.
