Bladnoch Distillery expands its Classic Collection with Liora

Bladnoch Distillery has announced the newest addition to their Classic Collection of Lowland single malt scotch whiskies, Liora.

Bottled at 52.2%, the expression is created using a pairing of both first fill ex-Bourbon and first fill new oak casks.

The producer has described Liora as having aromas of fresh cut apples and toasted caramel, with notes of caramelised toffee apples and peppery spice on the palate. The finish is described as long with a slight warming dryness.

Master distiller Dr. Nick Savage commented: “Liora embodies the delicate balance between the intensity of the New Oak and the sweetness of the Bourbon casks. On the nose you can expect juicy fresh cut apples along with toasted caramel and floral notes. As you taste Liora, on the palate you’ll get caramelised toffee apples along with peppery spices and fresh cut oak. A truly magnificent dram with a long finish with a slight warming dryness.”

The name Liora has its origins in Hebrew and means ‘The Gift of Light.’ It’s hand-crafted using local ingredients, including pristine water from the River Bladnoch that flows beside the distillery, as well as using Scottish barley.

Bladonch Liora will be available to purchase in the UK via the distillery’s website and at its visitor centre. There is a plan to roll out the expression around the world through Bladnoch’s distribution networks.
