Lexington Brewing & Distilling in Kentucky has announced the nationwide release if its latest barrel-aged beer expression.
Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Imperial Milk Stout has an ABV of 12%, with a finish described as beer-meets-bourbon having been aged in freshly decanted Kentucky bourbon barrels.
Available from this month across the USA, the new release marks the latest in a successful portfolio for the brand, which includes Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale, which is, according to IRI market research data provided by the brand, the second-best selling four-pack of craft beer in the country.
The producer has described the Imperial Milk Stout expression as having aromas of dark roasted malt and dark chocolate, with notes of dark chocolate, coffee and molasses on the palate.
Lexington’s head brewer Brandon Martin commented on the new release: “The goal for this beer was to make something big and bold with subtle, sweet undertones. We wanted a beer that had all the characteristics of a big bold stout but was smooth on the palate.”
Lisa Wicker has also been appointed as the first CEO of Lyons Brewing & Distilling Co, the new global brand name for the Lyons family’s beverage business, which also includes Lexington among other breweries and distilleries. Wicker previously worked at Widow Jane Distillery as president and master distiller.
The Imperial Milk Stout has an SRRP of $16.99 per 4-pack of 12-ounce bottles, with more information available at Lexington’s website.
