In collaboration with Irish artist David Rooney, Ahascragh Distillery has introduced new packaging for its family bond whiskeys UAIS and Clan Colla.
With over 30 years’ experience as an artist and illustrator, Rooney has been enrolled to retell the story of the Three Collas. He has recently worked on a number of cultural and historical projects, including 100 illustrations for the BBC documentary series The Story of Ireland.
Rooney worked alongside designer Conor Smyth of Backbar studios on the packaging and the labels.
The packaging is said to explain how the spirit of Clan Colla is still alive through hundreds of Irish names and families. People are being encouraged to discover if they are also part of the clan. Common surnames include McDonald, Connolly, Carroll and Kelly.
Clan Colla Irish Whiskey celebrates the descendants of Gareth and Michelle McAllister, with whiskeys at a variety of ages and cask finishes.
UAIS Irish Whiskey honours Caireall Colla Uais, who overthrew the monarch and ruled as High King of Ireland.
Both brands are available to buy at the Celtic Whiskey Shop and stockists.
