London-based whisky cask broker, VCL Vintners, has announced the appointment of Charlie McClure as head of logistics and cask management. McClure is a former British Army supply chain manager, with five years’ experience at William Grant & Sons, including cask management and materials management.
During his four decades in the British Army, McClure reached the rank of Warrant Officer Class One and achieved the appointment of Conductor, in the Royal Logistics Corps, after a successful tour in Afghanistan.
It’s hoped that McClure can bring his sustainability and logistics expertise to the company and continue to deliver its warehoused goods and transportation processes with great efficiency.
His appointment comes at a time where the company is said to be strengthening all aspects of its logistics department in order to meeting the growing demand of its service.
Commenting on McClure’s appointment, Vintners CEO Stuart Thom said: “We’re excited to bring Charlie on board at VCL Vintners. With his impressive background in logistics, we look forward to working with Charlie to improve our supply chain strategies. We must continue to have stringent processes to ensure our clients’ whiskies are secure and the liquid is not affected during its movement to warehouses and storage facilities.”
McClure added: “I’m thrilled to begin my next chapter at VCL Vintners. My prior experience working with whisky and my extensive military background will allow me to bring new ideas to VCL Vintners and ensure they are prepared for a period of business growth as well as implement sustainability strategies.”
