Penrhos Spirits celebrates World Bee Day

Penrhos Spirits is celebrating World Bee Day on 20 May for a third year running with the Chilli Bee’s Knees cocktail, a honey twist on a gin cocktail.

The team at Penrhos rely heavily on the pollination of bees to grow their wobbly apples, wonky rhubarb, wibbly blueberries and honey from the apiaries to create their small-batch spirits. The company acknowledges the importance of bees to its products, hence the reason to celebrate.

The new cocktail will feature hot honey, which the company says has had a big moment this year in regard to cocktails.

World Bee Day celebrations this year follow Penrhos’s transition into 100% recycled aluminium bottles as part of a wider sustainability commitment.

Ingredients 

• 50ml Penrhos Rhubarb (2 units) 
• 25ml Chilli Honey Syrup (50:50 mix of honey & hot water, dissolve and let cool add 1 tsp of chilli flakes to taste)
• 25ml Orange Juice 

Method 

Combine all ingredients into a cocktail shaker. Shake very well with ice. Strain into a coupe glass for a deliciously honey-infused cocktail.
