Luxury whisky producer The Craft Irish Whiskey Co. has announced Raimonds Tomsons as its global brand ambassador. Raimonds will partner with the brand and work closely with its founder and CEO Jay Bradley.
Tomson recently won the prize of World’s Best Sommelier in 2023, having previously won the award for Best Sommelier in Europe and Africa in 2017. He comes with first-hand experience of the workings of several restaurants, including El Bulli, Noma and Osteria Francescana. He is also a board member of the Latvian Sommelier Association.
The partnership comes off the back of a number of collaborations with restaurants, the continuation of its work with The Michelin Guide and a new partnership with World’s 50 Best Restaurants.
Craft Irish Whiskey Co.’s range of rare and ultra-rare Irish whiskeys includes its inaugural award-winning single malt The Devil’s Keep.
Commenting on his new role at the company, Tomsons said: “Joining the team at The Craft Irish Whiskey Co. is an exciting milestone in my professional career. For me, being a sommelier means perpetual learning, and exploring the diverse world of wine, spirits, and other beverages.
"Fine whiskey has always been a spirit which I especially loved, so by joining Jay and his team as Global Brand Ambassador, I will have the opportunity to learn from the best, explore fine Irish whiskey in depth, and work on innovative whiskey and food pairings, sharing my knowledge and passion with others, and elevating the overall experience.”
Founder Bradley added: “In establishing The Craft Irish Whiskey Co., and painstakingly creating some of the most exceptional whiskeys in existence today, I’ve placed excellence above all else, including time, profit, and of course convenience. With that in mind, I’m thrilled to announce Raimonds, a man who's spent the best part of two decades diligently developing a palette for truly exceptional alcoholic drinks, as our new Global Brand Ambassador.
"Raimonds depth of knowledge, and his ability to detect nuances and layers of flavour, aligns perfectly with the way I make my whiskeys, each bottle of which offers a unique complexity of flavours, because of our pioneering approach to barrel-craft. Welcome Raimonds, I look forward to all we will achieve together.”
