Shanky’s Whip debuts ‘Worth a Try’ TV ad campaign

The first television advertising campaign from Shanky’s Whip Irish Whiskey Liqueur launches this month in the US and South Africa.

The brand, owned by Biggar and Leith, is distributed in 70 countries, and the ad campaign signifies the next step in its expansion and awareness plans.

The ‘Worth a Try’ campaign is composed of three adverts starring the brand’s character Shanky, an Irish ostrich jockey, and his race ostrich. Through playful creative that shares the flavour profile of the liqueur, the campaign asks viewers to ‘give it a try’.

Shanky’s Whip founder Elwyn Gladstone says: “We have been amazed at the success of Shanky’s Whip in so many countries which is down to the incredible taste and stand-out packaging. The leading markets are the USA and South Africa – so we are backing this up with original and fun television ads which we hope will grow awareness around St. Patrick’s Day.

“The spirits market is incredibly crowded with new brands and we have worked hard to differentiate from the crowd. These ads are just one part of our marketing mix which also includes consumer sampling, out-of-home advertising, social-media and bartender outreach.  Flavoured whiskey is a huge category in the US and around the world, and we think Shanky’s Whip, with its Irish provenance, is going to have major global appeal.”

The creative is delivered in connection with Top Shelf Productions, a creative production company specialising in premium beverages.
