Lind & Lime becomes fourth Scottish gin distillery to hold B Corp status

Edinburgh gin distiller Lind & Lime has achieved B Corp status. The certification makes Lind & Lime just the fourth gin distillery in Scotland to become B Corp accredited.

The brand produces a classic London Dry Gin in Leith, the historic distilling district in Edinburgh. B Corp certification verifies Lind & Lime’s “performance, accountability, and transparency” in its business practices. The gin also became certified organic in April 2023.

Lind & Lime was founded in 2018 by Ian Stirling and Paddy Fletcher, who are also behind the new Port of Leith distillery, which recently distilled its inaugural spirit.

Stirling commented: “The B Corp certification felt crucial for us. It validates our commitment to sustainable and responsible business practices but perhaps more importantly, it provides us with a credible and recognised framework to measure our social and environmental impact.

“Being a B Corp aligns with our core values and mission, serving as a guiding principle for everything we do. It's not just about being a profitable business; it's about using our platform to drive meaningful change and contribute to a better future for all.”

Samuel Travers, head of gin at Lind & Lime added: “B Corp certification has a significant impact on our day-to-day operations by embedding sustainability and social responsibility into every aspect of our business. It influences decision-making processes, from sourcing materials to interacting with stakeholders. It guides our choices in selecting suppliers who share our values of ethical sourcing and responsible production.

“It also affects our internal policies and practices, such as employee well-being initiatives and waste management strategies. Overall, being a B Corp shapes our organisational culture, driving us to continually improve and innovate in ways that benefit both people and the planet.”
