World Beer and World Cider Awards 2024 entry deadline approaching

The World Beer Awards and World Cider Awards 2024 entry deadline is approaching. The deadline for entries in both awards is Tuesday 7 May.

Entries will then need to be shipped to the awards, with a shipping deadline of Tuesday 28 May.

The World Beer Awards spotlight the very best internationally recognised beer styles such as IPA, stout, sour, and low alcohol. There are 10 taste categories and 12 in the design category, with awards including Best Bottle, Best Label, and Best New Launch.

This year, author and beer expert Pete Brown (pictured below) joins the chair of judges for the World Beer Awards. Brown has written more than 10 books on beer, has been nominated for UK Beer Writer four times, and has judged beer competitions all over the world.

When asked why people should enter the awards, Brown commented: “People should enter any beer awards in general to get feedback on their beers, to compare their efforts against others, and to learn about styles and where the general standard is… I like the World Beer Awards because they walk a nice line [between] the industry-facing stuff like whether a beer is to style or not, and the consumer side of is this a nice beer to drink?”

Winners of the 2023 awards include First Love for World’s Best IPA, La Juicy for World’s Best Pale Beer, and Stollo’s Best Märzen Rot for World's Best Label Design.

Sharing the same ethos as its beer counterpart, the World Cider Awards focus on showcasing the very best in the global cider industry. There are 11 taste categories to enter such as flavoured cider, sparkling cider, and still perry as well as 11 design categories.

Winners of the 2023 awards include Hard Candy Ginger for World’s Best Flavoured Cider and Fils De Pomme Organic Pear Cider for World’s Best Sparkling Perry.

Joli Rouge took home several awards last year, including a gold medal in the taste category for Joli Rouge Houblon. CEO Marc-Olivier Fortin commented: “It was great to be recognized by our peers and professionals among the best ciders out there. It really helps to improve our brand visibility and credibility.”

Further information on how to enter the awards and past winners for beer and cider can be found on the World Drinks Awards website.
