Teeling Whiskey celebrates World Whisky Day with extremely rare single malt

The release is limited to just 140 bottles, making it one of the world’s most exclusive Irish whiskeys. Previous releases have included the 33 Years Old and 37 Years Old bottlings. The current release remains the oldest and rarest bottling from Teeling to date.

The Teeling 40 Years Old Single Malt was distilled in 1983 and matured exclusively in an ex-bourbon cask for over 40 years. The whiskey was then hand bottled in a new style decanter straight out of the cask. Each decanter has been hand decorated with gold infill and comes in a premium gift box. Every bottle is individually numbered, and comes with its own unique certificate of authenticity and an invitation to the Teeling Whiskey Distillery for a very special tasting.

Jack Teeling, founder of the Teeling Whiskey Company, commented: “We are extremely proud and lucky to be custodians of some of the oldest Irish Single Malt, which we have been mindfully releasing through our Vintage Reserve Collection. We are honoured to unveil the pinnacle of our this collection with our new “Modern Classic”, the Teeling 40 Years Old Single Malt, one of the oldest Irish single malts ever bottled and a rare piece of Irish whiskey history — 40 years in the making.”

In addition to this launch, Teeling Whiskey announced its new ‘Phoenix Rising Scholarship Programme’ in conjunction with Technological University Dublin, located three kilometres from the Teeling Whiskey Distillery.

Through these scholarships, Teeling Whiskey aims to support and inspire the next generation of innovators in the Irish brewing, distilling and hospitality industry. Eligible students will receive mentoring from Teeling Whiskey employees across different departments. A proportion of the proceeds raised from the sale of the Teeling 40 Years Old Single Malt will go toward funding their studies.

Stephen Teeling, sales and marketing director for Teeling Whiskey, commented: “Social sustainability has always been a priority for us at Teeling Whiskey and we are committed to playing our part in the Dublin community, supporting those across our industry. We can think of no better use of our new 40 Years Old then to help us support and inspire the new generation of Irish whiskey makers. Education is the cornerstone of progress, and through these scholarships, we aim to give back as much as we can locally here in Dublin.”

The Teeling 40 Years Old Single Malt (42% ABV, €15,000) will initially be available in the Teeling Whiskey distillery before it is offered to a select few partners, domestically and internationally. It will be available to taste after attendance of Teeling Bang Bang Bar tour, where visitors can sample a range of Teeling’s award-winning whiskeys and signature craft cocktails.
