Single-cask Tequila released by Avión

Avión Tequila has announced a small batch release of just 100 bottles of its new expression, Avión Lucky Liquid.

The extra añejo Tequila was matured for nine years in a single Mexican Cabernet Sauvignon cask. The name is inspired by its brief fall into obscurity; the cask was “left forgotten in the cellars” until it was fortunately rediscovered.

Tasting notes from the brand highlight cacao, candied red fruits, pecans, peach, and a tannin-rich body.

Avión has partnered with wine and spirits blockchain marketplace BlockBar to release the limited expression. The 100 bottles of Lucky Liquid will be released on the marketplace at the beginning of June.

Juan Namur, digital director at House of Tequila — Pernod Ricard, said: “Successfully created against all odds, Avión Lucky Liquid was borne out of a hunch nine years ago and is proof that fortune favours the bold… By combining blockchain technology with prestige tequila in a limited run of just 100 bottles, we’re captivating the attention of two highly engaged, trailblazing communities.”

Avión Lucky Liquid will go on sale for US$495 from 10am EST on 3 June via BlockBar. For full details, see BlockBar’s website.
