The Oxford Artisan Distillery becomes Fielden
The Oxford Artisan Distillery has rebranded to Fielden, marking a change in the size and journey of the distiller. The brand is currently building a new distillery in Yorkshire which is projected to have a production capacity of 450,000 litres of alcohol per year.
Fielden has recently planted 2,100 acres of heritage grain in farms from Cornwall to Norfolk. The brand uses grains grown with Restorative Continuous Cropping, which means no chemicals and no tillage is used during the farming process. The new name reflect’s the brand’s farming commitments: ‘fielden’ is an Old English word for ‘of the field’.
Alongside the rebrand and relocation, Fielden has announced a partnership with Berry Bros and Rudd who will be the exclusive distributor of Fielden whisky.
Mark Harvey, managing director of sales and marketing for Fielden, commented: “Over the last few years we have seen the industry take major steps towards addressing the climate crisis, but we have a responsibility to do more in tackling sustainable farming and grain production. We believe we can use whisky to further a revolution in the field.”
Berry Bros & Rudd managing director of brands Johnny Roberts added: “As a family business that started in 1698, we recognise it is critical to protect our planet for future generations. We support Fielden’s focus on putting sustainable farming at the heart of its whisky story and are delighted to distribute the brand in the UK including through our new Spirits Shop at 1 St James’s Street.”
The first whisky to be released under the Fielden brand is Fielden Rye (RRP £60), available now via
fielden.com.
