Speyburn refreshes core collection and branding

Speyside distillery Speyburn has revealed updated branding for its collection of single malt whiskies, as well as a refreshed core range.

The core collection is presented in new-look branding, with a bolder colour palette. The packaging highlights the distillery’s distinctive features: its pagoda-style roof, and its founding year of 1897. The refreshed look currently applies to the distillery’s core collection, and will roll out to Speyburn’s 15 and 18 Years Old expressions later this year.

The new core collection features three whiskies. Speyburn’s flagship 10 Years Old whisky is joined by two new additions, the Bourbon Cask and Rum Cask Finish.

The Bourbon Cask (40% ABV) was matured in ex-bourbon barrels, and is described as the “ideal introduction” to the collection. The Bourbon Cask is first by the distillery to be released with external packaging, in and effort toward reducing waste.

The Rum Cask Finish (40% ABV) was first matured in ex-bourbon barrels before a finish period in rum casks, for a tropical effect on the flavour that “elevates Speyburn’s signature fruity house style”.

Euan Henderson, distillery manager at Speyburn, said: “Not only do these new whiskies offer something for existing Speyburn fans to enjoy but will also appeal to a new wave of Speyburn drinkers. Speyburn Rum Cask Finish in particular is different to anything we’ve ever done before, and I can’t wait to hear what Speyburn fans think of this new release.

“The refreshed packaging perfectly complements the new range and it’s been great to see it all come together. I could tell you everything that I like about the new collection, but I prefer to let the whisky do the talking.”

The new core collection was released in the UK on 23 May 2024, with a global roll out also expected.
