HYKE gin to launch aluminium bottles for signature gin

HYKE gin is the latest brand to trial aluminium bottles for its signature gin Saved Grape.

The brand will use 100 per cent recycled aluminium bottles with a plastic-free compostable lid seal. The packaging update is “part of a wider rebrand” through which HYKE aims to connect with a younger customer base for whom it believes sustainability is a priority.

HYKE has embedded a sustainability-forward approach into its gin; the Saved Grape expression is distilled from the surplus of grapes created in the supermarket supply chain. Grapes that do not fit in a punnet and may otherwise be wasted are used by the brand.

Simon Pierce, spokesperson for HYKE Gin, said: “We’re thrilled to take this next step in enhancing our sustainability while continuing to offer the same award-winning quality. Our customers can enjoy our exceptional gin, knowing it’s crafted with care for both taste and the environment.”

Aluminium bottles are growing in popularity for spirits brands looking to boost their sustainability credentials, including gin makers Penrhos Spirits and Turncoat Gin Distillery. Other names in spirits have also been experimenting with alternatives to glass bottles, such as drinks giant Diageo who trialled both aluminium and paper-based bottles for Baileys.

The new aluminium HYKE bottles will be available from 17 June in Tesco and select retailers for RRP £28.
