Pinnock Distillery in Shakespeare-inspired collaboration
The Shakespeare Birthplace Trust, a museum dedicated to William Shakespeare has collaborated with Warwickshire’s Pinnock Distillery to create a gin inspired by A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
The Midsummer Edition gin features English botanicals harvested from the gardens of the trust’s sites: Anne Hathaway’s Cottage, Shakespeare’s Birthplace, and Shakespeare’s New Place. The fruits, herbs, and flowers used include angelica, cassia, figs, fennel, cubeb, lavender, and quince.
Adam Sherratt, retail development manager at the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust, said: “Inspired by one of Shakespeare’s best-loved plays, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, our gin features a selection of classic gin botanicals carefully balanced with more unusual ingredients referenced in the play, such as quince, apricots, green figs and honey. What’s so special is that these are ingredients that Shakespeare and his loved ones would have been familiar with.”
Daniel Beckett, Pinnock Distillery, said: “Creating this special edition gin has been a true labour of love. Ahead of Midsummer’s Day, we are thrilled to share this unique blend with gin enthusiasts and Shakespeare fans alike.”
Pinnock and the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust have previously collaborated for Shakespeare Gin Special Edition. The distillery has produced a variety of custom spirits for clients such as the trust.
Shakespeare Gin Midsummer Edition (40% ABV) is available via the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust.
