Spirits company Bacardí has been recognised by the Wildlife Habitat Council (WHC) for its initiative to protect the river that runs through its Bombay Sapphire distillery. 

 

At the Hampshire distillery on the banks of the river Test, Bacardí’s river protection work has seen it plant wildflowers and create fish and eel passes, to allow for river life to move freely.

 

Bombay Sapphire distillery is also part of the Anglers’ Riverfly Monitoring Initiative, which monitors invertebrates in the river. 

 

Margaret O’Gorman, WHC president, said: “WHC is proud to honour the Bacardí-owned Bombay Sapphire site with the Wetlands and Water Bodies Award. This award not only recognises Bacardí for its achievements, but it also serves as an example of the actions taken by the private sector to support biodiversity around the world.”
