Renais Gin partners with French distributor

Renais Gin has announced a partnership with distributor Maison Villevert, to grow its presence in France. The partnership is the latest in a series of market expansions by Renais, including its recent arrival in the United States.

Through Maison Villevert, Renais will focus on luxury and high-end retailers and venues in the on- and off-trade. The gin has existing accounts in France in the on-trade, including with Les Ambassadeurs and Drinks and Co.

Alex Watson, Renais co-founder and CEO, commented: “The French market is symbolically and strategically a hugely important one for Renais, with our liquid inspired by the provenance, traditions and terroir of wine making tradition.

“We are excited to be partnering with the highly renowned Jean-Sébastien [Robicquet, Maison Villevert founder], and the Maison Villevert team, who are experts in the craft of grape based spirits and innately understand the on & off-trade holding exceptional relationships with leading bar teams across the region. We look forward to accelerating the organic growth we have achieved to date with our new partners.”

Renais was founded in 2023 by siblings Alex and Emma Watson, and uses byproduct grapes from the Watson family’s vineyard in Chablis in the distillation of its gin.

Robicquet added: “As a pioneer and leader in grape-based gin and vodka, I’m thrilled by Renais, an audacious creation blending French craftsmanship with modernity. Since 2006, with G'Vine, we’ve been at the forefront of innovation, so it was a natural fit for Maison Villevert to partner with Alex and Emma Watson, who perfectly embody our values while honouring our heritage and terroirs.”
