Bacardi reveals multi-million Scotch expansions
Drinks company Bacardi has updated on the expansions made to its Scotch whisky production facilities and brands.
In Poniel, the company has increased the capacity of its blending and maturation centre by 15 per cent through the addition of three new ageing warehouses. Additional jobs have also been created at the site.
Bacardi has also recently completed its multi-million-pound expansion of the Aultmore Distillery in Scotland’s Speyside region. The project was initiated to improve efficiency and safety, and to install energy- and water-saving technology.
New technologies include the introduction of Thermal Vapour Recompression (TVR) technology to capture and repurpose vapour produced in distillation, and a new boiler with the capacity to use hydrogen fuel for future use.
The Aultmore expansion project also included a new tun room, still house, boiler house, and closed-loop cooling tower.
Keith Hogg, VP supply chain, Europe, Bacardi, said: “Our investment in Aultmore and Macduff distilleries and our Poniel blending and maturation centre is an important step in the bold plans we have for our premium and ultra-premium whiskies. We are so proud of the exceptional quality of our award-winning Scotch whiskies and are investing in its growth for the long-term.”
Bacardi has also made recent improvements to its Macduff Distillery, including new mashing equipment, an air-conditioned control room, and high gravity mashing to drive energy and water saving.
